Failand & Portbury Cricket Teams

1st XI

The 1st XI plays their cricket on Saturday afternoons in the Bristol and District 1st Division. After gaining promotion in 2008 to the senior division the 1st XI have held their own in the higher league for 3 seasons with senior players Simon Bachelor, Tony Lippe and Ed Humphreys leading from the front. An injection of new players into the first team over the last few years has seen a well balanced and committed team develop. 2012 proved to be a difficult season with players missing and the bad weather leading to relegation. As the 2013 season nears the 1st XI are looking for a few new and younger players to step up and make a claim for a place in the team.

2nd XI

Playing their cricket on Saturday afternoon the 2nd XI gained promotion to the senior division in the 2011 season which is where we feel that they belong. The higher standard of cricket is by far a better environment for younger and aspiring 1st and 2nd team cricketers to build on their experience and skills. The 2nd XI team has a great mix of new and more experienced players of all ages playing competitive cricket throughout the league season.

North Somerset XI

The North Somerset XI plays league cricket on Sunday afternoons in the Sunday Conference Division 3. Playing competitive cricket on a Sunday has proved very popular for our members who cannot play Saturdays as well as those who enjoy a fantastic tea and a beer after the game. Steve Pursey has led the team for a number of years ensuring that while playing to win all 11 players are involved.

Sunday XI

The Sunday XI play afternoon friendlies throughout the season either at home or away at picturesque grounds in the local area. Some games are played further afield with trips to Devon at the end of the season a regular occurrence. The Sunday XI play a relaxed and enjoyable brand of cricket for all abilities. While playing good cricket on the field the team will ensure that they polish off the remaining match tea and have a drink in the bar after the game.
